New project in Wales
A small hydropower plant Ystradffin is constructed in one of the most scenic areas of Wales.
This project started at the end of 2018 with the commisioning date planned in February 2020. The SHPP Ystradffin is located in the first step of the Llyn Brianne dam. The scheme is taking water from the river Towy and intake is placed inside highly protected SSSI zone. This project is HYDROPOL's first low head hydro power scheme in the heart of Wales in a very sensitive natural area.
The output of 1.8 MW is carried out by two Francis turbines with the capacity of 1 x 2.5 m3/s plus 1 x 1.7 m3/s.
