Ystradffin
United Kingdom - design and construction of a HPP in Wales.
In the middle of one of the most protected areas of Wales, another project was finished in the United Kingdom in autumn 2020. The Ystradffin hydropower plant is located in the first step of the Llyn Brianne dam, taking water from the River Towy.
Two Francis turbines carry out an output of 1.8 MW and generate nearly 8 000 MWh a year. The turbines have a capacity of 1 × 2.5 m3/s plus 1 × 1.7 m3/s.
HYDROPOL provided design, EPC contract and all technology equipment for this project. Currently it’s in charge of maintenance and operation of the plant.
